Why this exists

Most EHRs were built for one client in one chair.

Marriage and family therapists work around that every week.

  • A couple booked as two clients so the calendar will take them
  • The same note pasted into two charts
  • Two invoices when one partner pays for both
  • AMFT hours copied from the calendar into a spreadsheet each month

Coral was built so the couple in your calendar is the couple in your chart.

Marriage and family therapy is relational, and the chart should be too. In CoralEHR you create a couple or family of 2 to 6 people and book them as one session. Each person keeps their own chart with the shared note in it, and the person you choose gets the invoice. If you supervise AMFTs, their client contact hours count from attended sessions with couples and family hours kept apart, so relational hours are easy to report.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best EHR for LMFTs?

It depends on how your clients pay and who is in the room. If most clients pay privately and you see couples and families, look for an EHR that books a couple as one session with one shared note and one bill. CoralEHR does that on every plan. If you need to file in-network claims today, an insurance-first EHR fits better for now, since our in-network claims arrive in January 2027.

Can I bill a couples session to one client?

Yes. When you create the couple, you choose who pays. Coral makes one invoice for the session when you mark the outcome, and AutoPay can charge that person's card on file. Services carry their own CPT code and fee, so couple sessions can be priced on their own.

Does CoralEHR track AMFT supervision hours?

Yes. Client contact hours count from attended sessions on the calendar, with couples and family hours kept apart, and supervision is logged as individual, triadic or group. You enter the hour goals from your board, since boards differ (the BBS in California, for example). Coral can show optional hints for California, Texas, New York, Florida and COAMFTE programs. Your AMFT sends hours for sign-off, and you sign them or send them back with a reason.

Do AMFTs and trainees need a paid seat?

Associates such as AMFTs who see clients take a normal clinician seat. Pre-degree trainees join free as interns: 3 per supervisor on Starter and 10 on Pro. Supervision is part of every group plan.

Can each partner still have individual sessions?

Yes. Each person has their own chart, so individual sessions and their notes stay private to that person. Couple sessions and the shared note appear in both charts.

Can parents use the portal for a child in family therapy?

Yes. Guardians get their own portal access for a child, set separately from who pays. A guardian can act for the child in the portal, and you decide what they can see.
